It is difficult to put a title. Should we call this the dog days of summer, or do we to phrase it as an Indian Summer ?. Or ought we to follow the edict of our friend Bill, who rightly proclaimed, "a rose by any other name and so on and so forth", and just call it a glorious Californian summer. And what a summer it has been. The economy gave all of us palpitations, Michael Phelps converted the nation nay the world into aquatic specimens, and Good Golly Miss Molly, Paddy started an organic garden behind the coffee house. Will wonders never cease ?
Allow us to give you the best possible news. Paddy's Coffee House was recently certified by the Alameda County Registrar of Voters, as the first coffee house to serve as a polling station for the November elections. That's right, your favourite coffee house takes a higher step towards community involvement.
With all the happenings on the economic front, it makes us wonder, is Main Street a dying species in this country ? Do consumers prefer the price bargains of a mega chain, or are they seeking the comfort of a home and personal approach of the traditional mom and pop stores. Would love to hear from you. Your feedback is a great guidance to us and all other mom and pop stores.
Ere we prattle on, wanted to let you know that on Labour Day, September 1st, our hours are from 7.00 am to 3.00 pm.
Our goal has always been to give you the best brew in town coupled with the best service. And we can safely assume that we have done so. Your feedback is always appreciated, either in person, via email or through any online sites. We love to hear from you. Starting September 1st, we are revamping the menu with additional items and also reflecting the current market conditions. We appreciate your support and patronage.
Paddy's Coffee House and the November Elections
Election Day November 4th 2008, Paddy's Coffee House has been certified by the Alameda County as a polling station for the neighbouring residents. We encourage all eligible patrons to cast their ballot, be it absentee, or at Paddy's or at any other location. After all, if some of you as mature citizens of this country, do not find time to vote, then you have no moral authority to bemoan the lack of youth involvement nor complain about the directon that the country is headed. So dust out your black pens, and complete the arrow. Show us your sticker that you voted and your drinks will be discounted. Talk about an incentive.

Our coffee drinking journey continues. This month we plant our feet in Indonesia and certain sections of Africa, to get you the distinctive Mocha Java Blend. It is a delicious blend of African and Indonesian coffees, with a smooth winey finish. And for the month of September we continue our journey to the Sidamo Region of Ethiopia, and will feature their organic coffees. Our sampling continues, and pretty soon, we will also be featuring Green Tea Chais. Stay tuned for more information on that one.

Recycling/Compost
Do your part for the environment. Recycle and reuse. If you have old batteries and old unwanted medicines, bring them over and we will recycle them for you. If you need reusable bags for grocery shopping, come on over, grab a drink, and get a bag. We are working our way in becoming one of the first establishments to completely compost and recycle all our waste matter. More information on this will be available soon.

Neighbouring Coffee Houses
Apart from us of course, there are other fine coffee houses that we know of, within a driving radius of Fremont/Hayward/San Leandro. When in Fremont, visit Bay Street Coffee House in the Irvington district area, Mission Coffee near Ohlone College, Suju's Coffee on Thornton and Paseo Padre Parkway. When in Hayward, Eon Coffee, across from Chabot is the place to be. And if you find yourself in San Leandro, visit Zocalo's Coffee House in downtown San Leandro. Each of them have carved out an unique neighbourhood approach, and we encourage you to visit them. Tell them we referred you.

What's Paddy listening to ?
When people find out what music Paddy is listening to, they call his choice interesting. Hmm, Paddy prefers to call it a yo-yo taste. Paddy shuffles his music from bad hair 80's of Def Leppard to a classic Jethro Tull or a Deep Purple or an Uriah Heep to songs from Bollywood movies to McCoy Tyner or a Coltrane to new wave techno and lounge beats to local hip hop to Goo Goo Dolls or an Iron Maiden to Indian Classical. Oh yeah, throw in the occasional CSNY or a Jayhawks or a John Mayall, and the yo-yo hums. Are you a yo-yo too ? Let's hear (pun intended) your Babel.
